Reports have it that Ellen and Portia de Rossi's marriage won't be able to hold up to alcohol and verbal abuse much longer. Sources close to the pair speculate that it's going to be an expensive divorce for DeGeneres, with Portia looking to split Ellen's $200 million talk show fortune right down the middle.
According to months of rumors, Ellen and Portia have been close to splitting up, and some feel that Ellen's alcoholism and abusive personality are the reason de Rossi is looking for a way out.
A friend of the couple told Star that Ellen likes come home from a hard day's work and unwind with few dozen stiff drinks and a vicious argument or two:
"Ellen often drinks at home, and when she does, she can get pretty nasty and hurtful. It's definitely affected their marriage. They fight about it a lot...They fight constantly. Their marriage is spiraling down; there's no way it will last."
A friend of de Rossi's told CDL that the routine was becoming too much for Portia to have to deal with on top of all the sacrifices she's already been asked to make:
"The fighting has reportedly reached epic proportions and both Ellen and Portia agree that they need someone to intervene and to help them towards actually communicating with one another again.
"[Portia] has felt for a long time like her whole life has become all about supporting Ellen and Ellen's career. Somehow she totally lost herself and when she thinks about it she gets really angry."
And Portia reportedly feels that if things do come apart, she deserves Ellen's money after all that she's been through, just as much as Ellen does (via Star):
"Portia feels that she has definitely earned half of Ellen's fortune for putting up with her for so long. You'd better believe that is she moves forward with this divorce she will fight for every penny she can get!"
An insider tells Star that Portia has already made up her mind to leave, just as soon as Ellen drops her guard:
"Ellen follows a cynical pattern: She is mean and controlling, then she sees that Portia is pulling away and sucks it up. She'll cry and tell Portia that she can't live without her, then spoil her with vacations, cars, and jewelry.
"She has a way of making Portia believe that she would never be anything without Ellen, and if they split, she'd be screwed...That's why Portia doesn't want Ellen to know that she's told friends she's thinking of leaving her."
Don't worry about these two crazy kids...with a $100 million dollars each, they'll have no trouble finding love again.
