The story has it that Ellen DeGeneres saved Portia de Rossi from the despair of dieting disorders and alcohol abuse that she was living in before the two got together. But now rumor has it that de Rossi is ready to split, and neither Ellen nor counseling will be able to save the talk show host's marriage.
The couple once seemed the very picture of happiness, and some suggest they still are, but the truth is their marriage is reportedly failing apart from the inside out.
The rumor mill reports that the couple is barely holding things together lately, and according to Star, the lesbian power couple has turned to therapy, in order to smooth things out:
"Ellen's a jealous control freak, and it's taking a toll on Portia. Portia loves her to death, but she feels like she's trapped in Ellen's world and she can't get out.
"She's had it with Ellen's jealousy and insecurities! There's even been talk of a separation, but for now, they're trying to work things out in therapy."
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the therapy will more than likely fail, since Portia's problems have as much to do with Ellen's life-encompassing career as they do their inability to properly communicate:
"The fighting has reportedly reached epic proportions and both Ellen and Portia agree that they need someone to intervene and to help them towards actually communicating with one another again.
"The real question is whether or not Portia even wants the marriage to work.
"[Portia] has felt for a long time like her whole life has become all about supporting Ellen and Ellen's career. Somehow she totally lost herself and when she thinks about it she gets really angry."
Sounds like one day Portia might go out to walk the dogs and just never come back.
