'John Carpenter Releases "Distant Dreams" Off New 'Lost Themes' Album

After more than 40-years of directing movies, John Carpenter surprised fans and critics alike when he released his first ever album of non-soundtrack material, 'Lost Themes', back in 2014. Now, in addition to the announcing the release of his second album, 'Lost Themes II' - out April 15 -- along with his first ever tour, the 68-year-old cult movie legend is sharing the first rack from the new record, "Distant Dreams" to drum up interest.

    Jazz trumpeter and composer Jon Crowley's new album, I Walk Amongst the Humans, with his current working band -- John Beaty (alto sax), Noah Berman (electric guitar), Max Maples (drums), Ben Thomas (bass), Brad Whiteley (piano) -- is set for release on Destiny Records March 11. His fourth album draws the inspirations for its unique sound from the Northwest alternative rock scene of the early 2000s.

    Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony (SFS) will release a new album, Mason Bates: Works for Orchestra, featuring Bay Area composer Mason Bates's three largest electro-acoustic orchestral works on the Orchestra's SFS Media label on Friday, March 11, 2016. The first full album of Bates's orchestral works features the first recordings of the SFS-commissioned "The B-Sides" and "Liquid Interface," in addition to "Alternative Energy."
