Allegedly Racist Washington Redskins May Trade Robert Griffin III After Multiple Injuries, Poor Stats

Robert Griffin III is currently the quarterback for the Washington Redskins, a football team that has drawn cristicism for using the racially charged word in their name. The Redskins Griffen up with the second overall choice in the 2012 draft. Prior to that, Griffin played college ball for the Baylor Bears, where he had some really impressive seasons. Most impressive of which was his 2011 season, when he accumulated 4952 total offensive yards and became the first student from Baylor to win the Heisman Trophy. Now, however, Griffin's career teeters on the edge of uncertainty. He has had multiple injuries and consistently poor performances, and now it looks like he is going to be traded.

Being a professional athlete comes with mountains of challenges for anyone. So, being someone who has multiple injuries is proving to take its toll on RG3. Yahoo Sports has addressed some of the concerns team managers have to take into consideration:

"His health is a perpetual concern. Did he fully recover from his leg injuries of two seasons ago? And what about his ankle dislocation this season? Even if the answer to those questions is yes, athletes who have multiple ACL tears over a career can be more prone to further tears. Griffin isn't that large anyway, and some of the hits he took [recently have] left him slow to get back to his feet."

They go on to ponder if Griffin has what it takes to last long-term in the NFL. And, perhaps more importanly, who is willing to risk it on him at this time? Apparently, as covered by The Washington Post, the Redskin's staff is not:

"RG3 has tanked in terms of on-field performance, getting benched by Mike Shanahan late last year and again by Jay Gruden this year. Gruden appears to have convinced meddling owner Dan Snyder that the Redskins need to find a quarterback that fits his pocket-passer scheme..."

It's sad to see such a promising individual who had so much potential hit a wall like this. What do you think? Can RG3 pull himself up by the straps on his cleats and get back at it? Let us know in the comment section below.
