Johnny Manziel has problems with the people around him, especially when it comes to his bodyguards. In the past twelve months, there have been two major incidents involving his security. Earlier this year, one bodyguard was accused of assaulting a fan. And now another of Johnny's bodyguards has been arrested for drinking and driving. Needless to say, Manziel is not pleased with what would have otherwise been an excellent season.
It regards to the recent DUI accusations, it appears that Manziel was not involved. Still, it does not look good to see somebody so young even near news like this.
CBS Sports reports on the situation:
"According to 19 Action News Reporter Ed Gallek the 'bodyguard' in question was arrested for DUI after driving Manziel's car but has not been charged...Manziel was nowhere to be found...Manziel was, according to the report, not involved here in any way."
This isn't the first time that Johnny has had trouble with his security team. There was also a physical altercation with an excited fan in July. According to Manziel's enterouge, the fan was "very aggressive" and "very intoxicated." The group also claims they took action to diffuse the situation.
Unfortunately, that didn't work. The fan was hurt by his bodyguards, after they deemed the fan a threat to Manziel. NESN confirms that Manziel stood by his security detial by publishing Johnny's statement:
"[The man] identified in a police report as Chris Gonos, was 'a very intoxicated, very aggressive person that approached me in the lobby.' Manziel said he went out to dinner Friday night with his mother and roommate and had returned to The 9, a downtown hotel where he has an apartment, when he was confronted by 'what has been made out to be a fan... the man was 'putting his hands on me, kind of toying with me.' The former Heisman Trophy winner said he and his roommate tried to coax the man into another elevator and 'the guy got very aggressive' before security was able to intervene.
Manziel's recent behavior and associations may wind up costing the professional athlete more than his dignity.
His bodyguard's latest actions appear to have fans upset with Manziel, himself. Though Manziel was not involved with the DUI, Johnny's associations have proven troubling in the past.
With children and teenagers looking up to athletes, some fans are concerned Manziel is promoting negative interests.
