Anderson & Roe, Fresh Off of 2015 Album Release of 'The Art of Bach,' Performing at SubCulture

Anderson & Roe, the piano duo known for their 2014 album An Amadeus Affair, will be playing a show titled “Point & Counterpoint,” showcasing songs from their new album The Art of Bach, released by Steinway & Sons, at SubCulture.

Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe make up the duo that the San Francisco Classical Voice calls “The most dynamic duo of this generation.” The group is known for their high-energy performances and unique take on classic pieces.

The show at SubCulture will feature music from their new album, along with works from An Amadeus Affair. The performance will consists of multiple sets of paired works from the Bach and Mozart albums, occasionally offset by other composers, such as Anderson & Roe's own arrangement of Radiohead's "Paranoid Android.” Along with the performance, the night will also include two music videos, including the world premiere of "Contrapunctus IX" from The Art of the Fugue.

The piano duo met while both attending the Juilliard School and began touring quickly after. Together they have appeared on MTV's Total Request Live, NPR's All Things Considered and From the Top, APM's Performance Today, the Cliburn Concert Series, the Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival and dozens of summer chamber music festivals. Their album When Words Fade (Steinway Label), was released to critical acclaim in 2012 and spent over a dozen weeks at the top of the Billboard Classical Charts, while their Emmy-nominated and self-produced music videos have been viewed by millions on YouTube.

The Anderson & Roe show will be Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. at SubCulture in New York. Tickets for the show are available here or can be purchased the day of the show. Check out Anderson & Roe's four-hand piano playing below.
