WWE Attacks Former Heavyweight Champ CM Punk After Health Policy Scandal, UFC

CM Punk is one of the most interesting (and controversial) athletes to cross over from the WWE to the UFC. Throughout the majority of his career, Punk served as a dominant heavyweight contender. However, things between Punk and his former employer ended in a muddled and confused fashion. Now, the sketchy details of the situation have reared their head once again. Sources suggest this is because the WWE feels that punk "outworked them." Moreover, they have outlined the tactics they plan to use in this counterattack.

Before his time with the WWE, Punk jumped between several lesser-known promotions. He debuted with World Wrestling Entertainment in September of 2005.

After climbing through the ranks, like so many before him, CM eventually made it to a place rarely traveled. He was, and is, the longest reigning champion of the modern era.

However, Punk's 2014 departure was buried in controversy and scandal. At one point, Punk even claimed he was fired on his wedding day. However, it is better known that Punk quit after falling ill and being "mistreated" by the company's health policies.

According to Cage Side Seats, though, Punk was simply playing the WWE:

"According to [sources] the reason this whole ordeal between Dr. Amann and CM Punk is coming out now is because WWE now believes that Punk "beat them at their own game." Originally, they thought he had such a strong case that they settled and hoped it would go away but now they think he 'outworked them' and that's why this is happening this way."

As is expected, the WWE is not happy. Now, according to Wrestling Inc, the company has stacked a good case against the UFC up-and-comer:

"Punk did not discuss this alleged condition with WWE's team of physicians and trainers, nor did he discuss it with anyone in our Talent Relations department. Subsequently, WWE has no medical records documenting this alleged condition. The first time WWE was made aware of this alleged condition was when we received a letter from CM Punk's attorney on August 22, 2014, after WWE terminated his contract. There is clear video evidence from the 2014 Royal Rumble, which allows all to decide whether there is any appearance of a baseball-sized growth on CM Punk's back."
