Green Bay Packers: 5 Reasons They Aren't Legitimate Super Bowl 50 Contenders

Following the Green Bay Packers' 38-8 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, what five reasons are there to support the statement that they aren't legitimate Super Bowl 50 contenders?

1. Aaron Rodgers Is Continuing to Struggle and That Won't Change

Once again, Aaron Rodgers struggled and didn't look anything like the superstar quarterback that could power a dynamic offense. He has been missing Jordy Nelson in a big way and simply hasn't looked comfortable in the offense. Green Bay has to figure out a way to change that, but at this point in time it doesn't appear that their offense will get back to the level that they have been at over the last couple seasons.

2. Eddie Lacy's Inconsistency Will Not Improve

While the Packers have been happy with Eddie Lacy at times this season, they have been frustrated for the majority of the year. Lacy has been struggling with major inconsistency issues and those problems will not change moving forward. Green Bay's offense cannot function properly with Lacy struggling and that will hurt them badly moving forward.

3. All of the Injuries Continuing to Pile Up

Green Bay has had terrible luck with injuries this season and they aren't slowing down. They have had major problems on the offensive line due to injuries and that doesn't look to be stopping either. Getting back to full health is a must for the Packers, but at this stage it doesn't seem all that likely.

4. The Young Defense Still Has a Lot of Holes

As was seen on full display this week against the Cardinals, the Packers still have a lot of holes on the defensive side of the football. They are very young in the secondary and while they have a lot of talent there are still concerns for this season. Green Bay's defense is still capable of stepping up, but they have to prove it.

5. Green Bay Has to Beat both Arizona and Carolina

If the Packers want to make it to the Super Bowl, they would have to beat both the Cardinals and Panthers. Beating both of those teams would be nearly impossible, especially as beat up as the Packers currently are. Green Bay doesn't look like a team that can beat them both, which would end their Super Bowl chances.

Do you think that the Packers are still Super Bowl contenders? Why or why not? Let us know in the comment box below!
