‘Hamilton’ Director’s New Show ‘Dry Powder’ Opens for Previews with Claire Danes

Tonight, Dry Powder opens for previews Off-Broadway. The new show stars Claire Danes (Homeland), John Krasinski (The Office, 13 Hours), Sanjit De Silva (War Horse) and Hank Azaria (The Simpsons, Spamalot) and is directed by Thomas Kail (Hamilton).

Productions note for the play lay out the plot of the show, reading (via Playbill):

“The same week his private equity firm forced massive layoffs at a national grocery chain, Rick (Azaria) threw himself an extravagant engagement party, setting off a publicity nightmare. Fortunately, Seth (Krasinski), one of Rick’s partners, has a win-win deal to invest in an American-made luggage company for a song and rescue his boss from a PR disaster. But Jenny (Danes), Seth’s counterpart, has an entirely different plan: to squeeze every last penny out of the company, no matter the consequences."

There will be a special benefit performance of Dry Powder during the closing week on Thursday, April 28. Tickets run between $750 to $1,000 for it final week at The Public along with an invitation to attend a party in the Ford Foundation Lobby with members of the cast and creative team after the show. Proceeds go to support The Public Theater.
