It seems pretty clear why Divergent Instagram beauty Shailene Woodley isn't dating her on-screen boyfriend Theo James; he is already dating his girlfriend since college, Ruth Kearney. It isn't quite as obvious why her Fault of Our Stars love-interest Ansel Elgort hasn't tried to take things up a notch, however. Shai's Insurgent brother clearly sounds infatuated with the Decedents talent, but has never mentioned actually trying to go for it with Woodley. Perhaps that is because he is afraid to get slapped. Ansel revealed that Woodley would often slap him on set if she felt he was misbehaving. Though it could just be that he is intimated by the off-beat angel, who demands alone time in order to "gather her energy."
Shailene Woodley's Divergent and the Fault of Our Stars co-star Ansel Elgort, is doing a pretty poor job of hiding his secret crush on Shailene form the world.
During a recent shared interview, Ansel practically told Shai he loved her while he spoke glowingly about all her many quirks to Parade Magazine:
"I learned that about Shailene--that she would slap me if I was bad! And I really liked that because she's honest with people, there's no BS and she's not fake, she's a real friend because of that to me.
"I learned a lot about her because she's so open. She's a totally open soul to me and I'm a totally open soul to her."
It seems that Shai might have been picking up what Elgort was laying down, when she dashed his hopes by waxing poetic about just how important it is for her to have her time all to herself:
"I'm an introvert by nature. I need my alone time. I gather my energy by being alone."
Although it could be that Shailene just isn't interested.
Shai claims that she is open to love from either sex, but in Hollywood when starlets say that ii is often code for, "I like sleeping with other Hollywood starlets."
