It was recently revealed that Marvel Comics is giving a Thor a major makeover. The mantle (and hammer) of the classic character is going to female successor. Now Avengers writer and director Joss Whedon is dream casting Chris Hemsworth possible replacement. Whedon took to Twitter recently to suggest that Battlestar Galactica Starbuck actress Katee Sackhoff should play the next Thor.
Joss Whedon knows a thing or two about strong female leads. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator has recently made his recommendation for a live action Thor replacement, Tweeting:
“A female Thor? What the hell makes them think THAT would be cool?”
The official press release by Marvel editor Wil Moss states spoke about the importance of the new legacy hero:
"The inscription on Thor’s hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it’s time to update that inscription. The new Thor continues Marvel’s proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this new Thor isn’t a temporary female substitute--she’s now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!"
