San Francisco chose to bench Colin Kaepernick earlier this season and named Blaine Gabbert the starter. He has not played a terrible season, but he has not been too terribly good either. Gabbert will come through with a very solid game this week against a weak Lions' secondary and will throw for 250 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions throughout the game.
3. Calvin Johnson Will Put Up a Massive Performance
All season long, Calvin Johnson has been inconsistent and has not been one of the top wide receivers in the game. He will put up a huge week against the 49ers and will help turn his season numbers around. Johnson should terrorize the 49ers this week and the Lions will definitely be going to him early and often throughout the game.
4. Torrey Smith Comes Through with Multiple Huge Plays
If the 49ers are goin to have any chance at coming away with a win this game, they need big plays. Torrey Smith is one of the better big play wide receivers in the game and he will come up with multiple big plays throughout the game. Detroit is still a better team, but the big play can help keep the 49ers in the game and give them a chance to win in the final minutes.
5. Detroit Pulls Off a Close and Hard-Fought Victory
Both of these teams are going to leave everything they have on the field, but the Lions are the better football team. They won't blow the 49ers out, but they will end up pulling off a close and hard-fought victory. San Francisco will not be able to make enough big plays to steal a win on the road and the Lions will improve to 6-9 on the season.
