Rumors have been swirling that the eagerly-anticipated Salman Khan film, Sultan, may be shelved before it ever really gets off the ground. The reasons given are various. Reportedly, Salman is cancelling shootings at the last minute and generally driving the director crazy. As well, there are reported creative differences between Salman and producer, Aditya Chopra.
Catch News has this to say about the whole affair, "According to the reports, the shooting of the film had derailed owing to the Dabangg star's creative differences with the producer of Sultan, Aditya Chopra. The report stated that Khan has stopped shooting for the film - a move that had caused a lot of stress among the production house, Yash Raj Films.However, Yash Raj Films took to Twitter to the clear the air over the reports. The production house also called this the least-interesting rumour about Sultan till date."
The reason for the disagreement, according to Filmbeat, was that Salman was unhappy that the film would not be released over Eid-ul-fitar festival weekend, or "Eid". Here's what Filmibeat wrote, "Ali Abbas Zafar's Sultan shooting has been halted as of now and nobody has any idea when the team will resume thier work again. Will Salman Khan and Aditya workout their creative differences or will the movie get shelved, like Karan Johar's Shuddhi? Also Salman is said to be angry with Aditya for not releasing the film on Eid and planning the release for August or September."
However, with all this speculation, many more recent indications point to a production very much alive and going forward. It may have been just a rumor a bored reporter made up on a rainy afternoon, or more likely, posturing resulted in necessary changes and adjustments. For whatever reason, Sultan seems to be on track with a lead actress who is ready to do what needs to be done. This is what Anushka Sharma had to say about working with Salman Khan, via Filmibeat, "'There is nobody like him because of his persona. The film and my role is something that I am really, really excited about. All in all, it is something I've been waiting to get my teeth into."
